We started in the summer of 2021 in a small Uttarakhand village. During a marriage festivity in the village, a need arose to arrange ethnic and traditional sarees for the groom’s family and thus was born the idea of Vastrase. Today, we are collaborating and supporting a small fraternity that makes and supplies handwoven sarees and shawls (a large piece of woollen cloth worn over the shoulders or head). Besides, we are sourcing sarees from our vendor partners in the southern and western regions. The fabric, colors, designs, and a few soulful minds and hands together make the piece of cloth turn into a saree. For us, this is more than a descriptive, defined vocabulary word, but an emotion that completes a woman and festivity folklore in a truly beautiful way.
